It’s the start of another new year and the opportunity for new beginnings but with it comes a hell of a lot of pressure. I am one of these people that are determined that everything will change on the first day of the year, I will enjoy exercising, I will eat better and I will make more of an effort with friends but when I wake up on the first of the month with a stinking hangover and the first thing I do is order KFC, I already feel defeated and it’s not even been 24 hours.
I didn’t go back to work until the 4th and on the night before I was convinced that I was going to fake tan and get up early to do my hair and start the working year by making more of an effort with my appearance. Yet, after a long mental debate, I decided I couldn’t be bothered to fake tan and I overslept and barely had enough time to run a brush through my hair, so I ended up going to work looking exactly the same as I did the year before.
Something that I am starting to learn is that it’s not about waking up on a particular day and expecting to change every detail in your life. It’s about making those tiny little changes and once you’ve mastered that and it becomes part of your daily life, you then move on to something else. Before you know it, you will be healthier, or you will be going to the gym regularly or you will learn to keep the house tidier. Eventually, you will become the person you want to be but it will take time and that is okay.
One of the things I wanted to change the most this year is putting more effort into blogging and as part of this, I will be taking it in a slightly new direction. Dating and relationships will still be at the core of what the blog is about but it will also cover other lifestyle aspects and forms of relationships. You may also have noticed that the blog has recently been redesigned, I am by no means a pro at building websites but if blogging is something I want to do seriously, this is something I am going to have to improve on. So watch out for more things to come in 2018 and have a wonderful year!
